Getting started

Setting up InsightNotes

From sign-up to your first report in a few minutes.

  1. Start your trial

Choose a plan on the sign-up page and enter your card. When you are done, you are shown your practice’s first connection code — write it down or keep the page open. It connects your first computer.

  2. Install the app

Download InsightNotes for Mac or Windows and install it on the computer you will use first.

  3. Set up the computer

Open the app and follow the welcome screens: your practice’s name and address for the letterhead, the owner account you will sign in with, and how the app should lock when you step away.

  4. Connect it to your practice

In the app, open Settings → About & Support → Practice Connection and enter the connection code. This computer becomes your practice’s administrator.

  5. Accept the agreements

If the app asks, an administrator reviews and accepts the Terms of Service and Business Associate Agreement under Settings → About & Support → Agreements.

  6. Start an evaluation

Add a client, start an evaluation of the right type, and work through its intake. Draft sections, review them, and export the finished report.

Adding more computers

On an administrator’s computer, open Settings → About & Support → Practice Computers and issue a connection code. Type it on the new computer under Practice Connection. You can make a code for one computer or several, and make any computer an administrator, so your practice is never dependent on one laptop.

Removing a computer

In Practice Computers, revoke it. A lost or stolen laptop is locked out at its next connection, and kept out until an administrator allows it back.

Keep your practice code safe

When you set up report sharing, the app shows your practice’s recovery code once. Store it where you keep other critical practice records — it is how another computer joins your encrypted records, and InsightNotes cannot show it to you again.

Billing

An administrator manages the plan, card and invoices from Manage billing in Practice Computers, and buys extra drafts there when needed.
